Diethylpentanediol

Chemical Name: 2,4-Diethyl-1,5-pentanediol

Abbreviation: DEPD

Molecular Formula: C9H20O2

Molecular Weight: 160.3

CAS Number: 57987-55-0

Structural Formula:

Physicochemical Properties

Colorless to pale yellow liquid, slightly soluble in water. Vapor density is 5.57 times that of air.

Properties and Uses

Diethylpentanediol is a special sterically hindered diol with a symmetrical molecular structure containing two primary hydroxyl groups. It improves hydrolytic stability and resistance to detergent corrosion, as well as improves solubility and reduces crystallinity. It can be used as a raw material for saturated and unsaturated polyesters and can be used in the production of polyurethane coatings, elastomers, etc.

Toxicity

DEPD acute oral toxicity data in rats: LD50 > 2000 mg/kg; dermal absorption toxicity data in rabbits: LD50 > 2000 mg/kg.
