Physical and chemical properties:

It is a colorless, odorless, hygroscopic viscous liquid with a relative density of 1.125. It is soluble in water and ethanol, but insoluble in benzene, toluene, and gasoline.

Uses:

It is mainly used as a wetting agent and solvent intermediate, less commonly in polyurethanes, but can also be used as a polyurethane chain extender and a raw material for oligomeric polyols.
