China’s Dimethylthiotoluenediamine (DMTDA) Project Successfully Begins Trial Production

Recently, the core project of Oasis Polymer Materials (Lanzhou) New Materials Technology Co., Ltd. successfully completed material feeding and officially entered the trial production phase at the specialized and innovative chemical industry incubation base in the new chemical industrial park. This project not only marks the first industrial-scale production of sulfur-based high-end fine chemicals in China but also injects new momentum into the “dual circulation” development of the chemical industry chain, thanks to its advanced technology and promising market prospects.

The project, with a total investment of 18 million RMB, focuses on the production of high-performance chemical reagents such as dimethylthiotoluenediamine (DMTDA) and thiodiglycolic acid. The process adopted is based on mature technology, further optimized and developed, and has undergone thorough verification through small-scale, pilot-scale, and industrial-scale trials. It features advanced technology and reliable safety, achieving a “from 0 to 1” breakthrough in the industrial production of this type of product in China.

One of the core products of this trial production, DMTDA, is hailed as a “key piece of the puzzle” in the field of sulfur-based high-end manufacturing. This product can significantly improve the processing efficiency and performance of polyurethane curing agents, helping high-end coatings achieve rapid curing and improved weather resistance. It can be widely used in demanding applications such as new energy vehicle coatings, high-end building anticorrosion, and industrial coatings.

The project’s products cover fields such as polyurethane curing agents, coatings, paints, and whitening agents, and can also be used as pharmaceutical intermediates. It has a broad market space and has already reached international markets including Russia and the European Union.

After full production, the project is expected to achieve annual sales revenue of approximately 60 million RMB.
